Flooding

This issue is becoming more and more common as the years go by. It appears storms that were once predicted to come once every 100 years are now yearly. What used to be a quick flash thunderstorm now turns our streets into rivers and our basements into swimming pools. Fixing this issue starts with small things, such as making sure our storm drains are cleaned regularly and cleared of debris. Additionally, large flood mitigation projects, including catch basins, dry wells, and storm runoff management will be needed. Whatever we need to do to get this resolved, we will do it.

While these projects require money, the money is there in state and federal funding. In order to get this funding, we need to have “shovel-ready projects” available. These are projects that are considered “ready to go” with plans that have completed inspections and architectural drawings already in place. All that’s needed is funding.

Therefore, when elected I pledge to work with flood mitigation experts to get shovel-ready projects so we can tap into available grants.
